I would like to create a new section of the website that will contain a few pages which require password access. I need to control the passwords so that I can provide customer-specific passwords and track access.

you could just password protect those pages under Publish > Visibility > Edit…

Thanks for your response. I know you can password protect pages, but that’s not really what I was asking. I wanted multiple username/passwords (one for each customer), and the ability to track/log who is accessing that particular page. I’m not certain this can be done with WordPress.

@ mrjoex3: did you ever get a reply for this? I need to do the same but wanted a process for the users to generate their own username/password that dump into a database I can access.

    Hi retzcanter,

The only reply I rec’d was an answer to something I didn’t ask for albeit I did appreciate the response.

Tracking user access can easily be done with plugins. The next steps have different ways you can do it. You could create all the accounts yourself, then make hidden pages for the content, and only give people the links to pages they are entitled to.
