passing highlighted text to be linked

When creating / editing a post and inserting / editing a link against highlighted text, I often use the highlighted text to be the title. WP could do this either by automatically populating the title field from the selected text, or have a button in the insert/edit link popup called “get title from selected text”. Comments? Would this be a valuable enhancement to core?
