• I downloaded Magazine Basic because it had a good rating but quickly found that due to some sloppy coding, I had to fix a problem with an extra </div> in “index.php,” the right sidebar ended up in the footer.

The solution to the problem was offered by another user of the teme on the support forum. The developer never weighed in.

My client then discovered another bug in the theme. If the theme options are set to a right and left sidebar, the right sidebar again ends up in the footer if there are more than 3 posts on the blog page. I reported this to the theme developer over a week ago and have yet to hear back. I may end up having to find another theme for my client.

Update: August 7, 2015: theme developer updated the theme on August 7. Update broke the child theme. Again, the theme developer is missing from the support forum.

  • Do you have more precisions to the code needed to be changed to work with WP 3.9.x ?
I still work with WP 3.8.3 waiting a new version of Magazine Basic, but i don’t know if the developper is active yet…

@bilboid: I am using the theme with 3.9.1 with no problems. One discovery I mad by simply reading back through earlier posts is that there is a bug in the theme which causes the “sidebar-content-sidebar” layout to break if the posts page has 3 or fewer posts. Static pages are not affected. Once you add a 4th post and up, the layout resolves itself.

Ok, so i can migrate my WP to 3.9.1 : i have 21 posts in my frontpage. Is the bug reappear in the categories/archives pages ?

So far I haven’t seen it in the categories/archives pages.

Ok, thanks for these precisions. Backup of the data base and let’s go. 😉
