[resolved] Parse error while trying to install WP on Godaddy (9 posts)

Every time I try to install wordpress on Godaddy with Filezilla, I get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /home/content/55/7249855/html/wp-config.php on line 50

I can't get into my back end manager or anywhere else to possibly fix it. I tried deleting and reinstalling, but that didn't make a difference.

Note: I may have accidentally deleted some Godaddy files in the file manager section beforehand (all I have is db_backups left), but I'm not sure if this would have anything to do with this error.

    Help!

Deleting the files in the GoDaddy manager shouldn't have any affect on setting up WordPress. The area in the wp-config.php file deals with the security keys.

Are you manually configuring the wp-config.php file when setting up WordPress or are you going through the web-based interface to setup WordPress?

I'm doing manual installation, following the instructions on the WordPress.org installation help page and on this website: http://www.howtomakemyblog.com/wordpress/how-to-install-wordpress-step-by-step-guide/

(Note: I accidentally deleted the .php files in the Godaddy file manager, and I was told that deleting those files would do it. However, I want to get a second opinion on this.)

Try re-creating your wp-config.php file using wp-config-sample.php as an template. You've introduced an error into your current version of wp-config.php

    Re-creating? As in re-naming?

Ok, nevermind. Would rewriting the files through Filezilla cause errors/corrupted files, though?

Possibly. It's always best to edit file in a plain text editor.

UPDATE: I reinstalled all the deleted files from Godaddy, but when I looked at the file in Notepad ++, I couldn't find anything wrong with line 50. Maybe it's the file transfer part? (Maybe I'm putting it in the wrong directory?)

UPDATE: When I tried to reinstall wordpress, some of the old wordpress files in my directory were floating around, which was causing the error.
