• I messed up my function.php file and am getting this error message when trying to go on my site: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/www/smellofpopcorn.com/wp-content/themes/notesil/functions.php on line 42

I have access to the file in question right in front of me. What can I do?

  • I’d download a new copy of that theme to your local computer, and replace that file via FTP.

Any other solution until I get to replace it? Do you want to see the entire functions.php file?

No – thank you. Not unless you use a pastebin.

    Here you go.

Ok. I tried to replace the functions.php file via FTP but can’t seem to be able to download my theme (NotesIL) from WordPress. It doesn’t exist in the database anymore, which is frustrating to say the least. So I can’t upload a new file, because there is no way to access a new file.

What can I do? I tried replacing the file with the functions.php of the Sandbox theme, which is the base theme for NotesIL, and my site appears blank, white.

Try switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

replace your function.php code with this, and let us know if that fixed your problem.

Edit: updated the link to function.php from notesil.0.2.1.
    Peace,
