I am getting the following errors when I try to reach my wordpress sites with my browser.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '<' in /home/newport1/public_html/safetymaintenancenews/wp-includes/functions-formatting.php on line 76

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in /home/newport1/public_html/wp-includes/functions-formatting.php on line 78

Just started yesterday, my host said there was a big hole in 2.0.2 WordPress and that I should reinstall WordPress. I do not want to loose the set up although I do have a week old backup.
Searching the forum I see that most of these errors can be corrected. Is that correct?

"my host said there was a big hole in 2.0.2 WordPress"
That's news to the rest of the world. Who is this host?
And if there IS a hole in 2.0.2, what did he propose you replace it with?

Your error could be a fault in the functions-formatting.php file. Delete it from your blog and reupload another?
