I just found your plugin today and really like it. The site I’m building has a lot of menu items, and this does a great job of presenting them.

My question seems to be the same question that someone else asked a few months ago (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/parent-menu-items), but I thought I’d phrase it differently.

Some of the “top level” menu items aren’t links; they simply contain sublinks. I’m looking to have the function of these non-links be the same as the function of the arrow icon beside them, namely, opening up the sub-items when clicked.

Is this somehow possible, that if no link exists on a top-level item that it takes on the same function as its corresponding arrow icon?

    Thanks for your time!

  • Hi Matt,

Thanks for downloading and using the plugin.

This is possible in the 2.1 beta which will be released in the coming weeks.

If you set the “Ignore Parent Clicks” option them this functionality will automatically be included with this option.

You can download the 2.1 beta and try it out now if you wish or wait for the full release, its completely your choice.

    Many thanks

    Peter

Works nice but for a consistent user experience it should not be limited to the top parent but the lower level parents for multi level situations. You can optionally make this a choice.

In beta testing my site, the parent click was one of the more common feedback items.

    You are unbelievable! And thanks!

    Hey pbravin,

Thanks for the kind words and for the feedback.

I agree that it would be useful to include this on lower level parents too, I will add this in to the development list for the 2.2 version as I would like to get 2.1 out as soon as I can to cover all the bugs that have been found in 2.0.

    Many thanks

    Peter,

I just downloaded 2.1 and it is working EXACTLY as I had envisioned!

You are to be commended for the quick turnaround…I noticed on other support threads that you are very quick to act upon suggestions, so I thought I’d take a shot. To get the functionality I was after in less than 48 hours is outstanding! Thank you.

    Hey Matt,

I am extremely happy that this is exactly what you wanted!

Also, thank you so much for the amazing review and comment, it is much appreciated, believe me!

If there is anything else I can help you with please let me know.

    Many thanks

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

I’d like to echo all the positive comments. This is working really well for me. I appreciate your efforts!

I’m very interested in the consistent behavior of “ignore parent links” as pbravin mentioned. Is there a 2.2 beta that you’re willing to let those of us who want this functionality adjustment try out?

    Thanks!

    Hi drien,

Sure, you can download it from the following URL:

    http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/responsive-menu.2.2.zip

Please let me know if this fixes the issue you are facing!

    Many thanks

    Peter

OH man, that totally did it. Thank you so much! Parent links are successfully ignored at all levels!

    Hey driensche,

Great that it worked for you!

    Many thanks

    Peter
