Paid to have wordpress site built, can't login, can't contact developer (10 posts)

    Hello -

New to the WordPress world, but am comfortable with front end development and currently teaching myself ruby on rails.

My father paid someone to have a wordpress site built for his company. He cannot get the person who built it to respond to him and provide him with the login information and the person did not set up my father's email address as the address to send a "forgot password" request to.

It appears my father was scammed somewhat (I wish he had told me he was doing this), but that's where we are now. I'm trying to get everything straightened out for him.

So the question is, how do I go about getting the login name and password, if I don't have the email address?

Also, do I need to figure out what server this is hosted on, and the login information for that as well?

    Here's the site: http://private-capital-solutions.com

I just need to update some of the info (address), and move some of the text around to where he wants it.

Thanks - It seems all of these options require you to know the admin username or admin password?

Is there a way I can verify myself to wordpress, and have them supply me with the password

When you build using the wordpress.org software, it's completly your own system, and only you (or the original developer in your case) has any access to it. Unfortunately no one here can look into your site because no one else knows where it is or has any sort of access to it at all.

You will need some sort of username/password to access anything. If the developer has set up your domain name and hosting there's a chance that you'd have gotten these details sent to you when the hosting was started? If that's the case you can use those to get into the websites hosting control panel. If not then you'll be left with only the WordPress logins, which you've already said that you don't have.

It's unfortunate, but unless you have some way of accessing the system, the only person that can help you is the original developer. I hope that your father didn't spend too much money on that site.

You can contact your host as well. Ask your father who he pays a bill to every month (godaddy, hostgator, bluehost, etc). You can call them and they will help you through the steps of resetting your password.

Cool, and I thank you! My vision is very poor and I was not sure...

You're hosted at GoDaddy and the domain is a private registration through GoDaddy. Might have some luck contacting GoDaddy, but only if you're paying for the hosting.

Please read the page at the link I posted above. You do not need your admin username or password to access your WordPress database.
