Pagination not updating correctly

I know there’s a lot of pagination questions. I’ve looked through many of them and can’t seem to find one that is similar to my problem.

At the bottom, you see it says page 1/5, then links to the next pages?
Well, if I click any of the links, the content and url will update, but the bottom navigation still says page 1/5 no matter what page I am on. So the next button doesn’t work properly and the previous button never shows up.

I can’t figure out what’s wrong or how to fix it. I have cleared my browser cache, I’ve deactived all my plugins, and the problem still persists. I am currently using MxS theme. I tried going to 2012 or 2013, but those themes do not have page numbers in their pagination (the newer/older posts links seem to work as intended, however). I’ve tried other themes aside from MxS and 2012 and 2013, and those that do have pagination appear to have the same issue.

I know some html and css, but I’m not a webdev, so I haven’t customized anything and I don’t know what code you’d need to look at for me to paste it here.

But any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
