Paginate a list of posts on a single page

Hi,
I am a bit of of newbie to wordpress coding and have come across an issue which has me pulling my hair out

Basically I have a custom post type that has an archive page to display a list of articles – this paginates okay using a plugin, however what i would like to achieve is that when you click on an article and see the full text there is a list of the other articles below it which are paginated.

Is this at all possible?
