• Hello.

To begin with, I already posted my query on the Photocrati forum (still no response to date). In a nutshell, I restored my WP site from a backup residing on my local system to my new domain hosting site. Curiously, a fair number of pages, widgets and images are mising from the WP manager, although all the components are nested in the wp-content folder and are not visible on the actual website (BTW: I FTP’d the wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes folders). I configured the DB paths and such from my mysql settings, otherwise I wouldn’t be at the stage I’m at now, being able to view and edit my WP site. Whether this is a Photocrati or WP issue, I don’t know, since I’m a newbie.
Any suggestions as to why not all the elements are in place?

    Many thanks to all.
    Pierre d.

The key phrases there are local system and new domain. In other words, you moved WordPress from one site to another. Did you review Moving_WordPress?

    Hello Esmi.

I consulted the information prior to executing the procedure and I was lucky enough to obtain assistance from my hosting support agent as well. As I mentioned, all the content is located in the same folders, so I’m scratching my head as to why some items are present while not others? The DB paths are working? It’s curious, since the from what I see, it looks like an older version of my site, though the content I FTP’d contains all the newer image files and such? The FTP copying is successful, as the identical files are now located in my new hosting path.

    Many thanks!

Your local site’s content is stored in your database as well – including references to all uploaded images. The database backup you used must have been an older one.

I’m a little confused as far as your reference to ‘database backup’. Before going foward with anything, I FTP’d/backed-up my entire WP site ‘database’ (if you want to call it that) to my local system. I verified the contents after the FTP session, and everything was there. Is the very same contents that re-FTP’d/restored to the new location. Is that what you wanted me to confirm, or are you refering to something else?

    Many thx!

Your database is very real and it has nothing to do with the files that you downloaded. You need to review Moving_WordPress.

Esmi: I’ve read the documentation and observed the suggested recommendations. Another source recommended installing the ‘Regex’ plugin in order to ‘search and replace’ any stray items. The plugin worked by correcting 46 links to pages and such that were already part my site, but not the pages and images that are still in my Photocrati content folder that are not yet included in my WP site. As I mentioned, the files are physically there and I can see them, the images and all, but how the heck do I get tjem back? At this point, I guess I’ll have to rebuild my pages and re-introduce my images, etc. As they say, you live and learn.

    many thanks for your help!
    Best,
    Pierre

No, the database backup is the data in MYSQL databse, no your docroot folder:

You used a copy from localhost to webhosting….. TRUE?
BUT haven’t drop and insert into MYSQL database

You haven’t completed the entire procedure.

    Greetings.

I now understand what you’re referring to. Since I was strapped for time, I decided to re-do my pages and links.
Needless to say, I’ve learnt my lesson!

    Many thanks.
