Pages VS Posts when creating a site. Which is better for SEO? (1 post)

I have a question about using pages VS posts to create my W based site. This is currently what I do. For example:

Category 1 = X Strategy Guide, so the URL for this category is http://www.mysite.com/category/x-strategy-guide/

I also created a page that is called X Strategy Guide with URL:

    http://www.mysite.com/x-strategy-guide

As a result, when I make a post in Category 1, and let’s say this post is called “Part 1”. The URL for this post will be: http://www.mysite.com/x-strategy-guide/part-1

And on the page http://www.mysite.com/x-strategy-guide, there are also links to “Part 1”, so it looks like a normal website with nice navigation even though it’s actually a mix of pages and posts

Now my question is: is this a good practice or not? Technically I can just create sub-page under http://www.mysite.com/x-strategy-guide and call this page part 1, and I will just get a page with the same URL http://www.mysite.com/x-strategy-guide/part-1. The reason I choose to use the strange method I am using now is because there will be 50-80 subpages, and they look ugly on the site because the default theme will show them all like this:

    Page
    X Strategy Guide:
    - Part 1
    - Part 2
    - Part 3
    - Part 4

The other reason is by using posts instead of pages, there will be links automatically link to the next and previous posts under this default template, so I don’t need to add them manually. As a result, it the user is on http://www.mysite.com/x-strategy-guide/part-4, they will see links that go to part 3 and part 5.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!
