   Recently I noticed that my pages' permalinks have a -number added at the end, e.g. /blog-2 or /contact-4.

   This seemed to occur when I deleted a page in error - when I added a page with the same name as the trashed one, the number was automatically added to the permalink.

   I'd like to remove the numbers - any tips out there?

   Empty the trash to really delete the old pages and then you can change the page's permalink and get rid of the number.

   I cannot locate the trash folder. Could you please direct me to where I'd find it in WP 3.1.2

   Look in the page listing in admin for All (5) | Published (4) | Trash (6)
