I am working on a client's WP site & I'm having some trouble. I have a couple of pages that won't update - I have tried to type directly into the Visual text box, I've tried the Import from Word window, I've tried coding everything out in HTML (including special characters) and copy & pasting from a text editor. I previously fixed this problem (or thought I did) by going into the page that wouldn't update & replacing ALL of the special characters with code. Obviously didn't work... Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    - re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    - increasing the memory available to PHP?

I once had this problem when the client had a caching plugin turned on. Not supposed to happen, but sometimes it does.

    Esmi:

I tried all of your suggestions. Nothing has worked so far.

rjmatey: I'm new to WP and I'm not familiar with a caching plugin. Is there a way to fix that?

    thanks for the help!

I am still having trouble with this. I'm eager to hand this off to the client, but I can't until I resolve this problem. I just found out that the server they are using is minimal, at best, and there's really nothing I can do in that respect (even if I knew how!) I realize that I'm a total novice & any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks so much!

I'm having the same or similar problem with my own site. I can post an entry without trouble, but once it's been posted, I cannot update it. If I make any changes to it and click "update", the screen goes white, and the post doesn't update.

I've been dealing with this for months. My only work around is to make my changes, wait for an auto-save, click back to "posts", re-open the post I wanted to edit, and then restore the latest auto-save. As you can image, not the most efficient way to do things.

    Any ideas?

i'm new at wordpress and i'm having a similar problem too.
after i edit a post, i click on update and it still reverts back to the old post! i've tried five times and it still does that. i've tried deleting caches or cookies. i don't want to switch to the default theme, i've already worked hard on editing some of postings that they might change if i revert back to the default theme.

and why do i need deactivate plug-ins? i only need want to update a post, why is it so hard to do that??

Just before Christmas my entire site seemed to get hacked and stopped working. I ended up re-installing WP from scratch and all my plug-ins. The good news? Updating posts works now. If there's an easy way to fix that bug I don't know. But a full re-install did the trick.
