[resolved] page turns white when i activate theme (9 posts)

    Hey

    i can use the default wordpress theme and one called 'classic' however when i download a theme and upload it to the server in the right place etc i just get a white screen... can't even log in. i have to delete theme from server :\

    That would make me think you are not getting the files for that theme uploaded to your host correctly. Make sure you are using ASCII file transfer mode (or AUTO mode with FileZilla).

    Delete the theme folder, download the theme zip file, use 7-zip to extract the files, upload the theme folder to your host.

    thanks for your help :)

    mhmmm not working :\

    tried everything you have said, and i even downloaded the default theme from sever and then tried uploading again and it worked fine so i dont know whats going on...!

    what else could i try?

    Does it make any difference i am using an apple mac?

    Okay how about a link to download the theme you are having that problem.

    This procedure worked for me:

    Download theme zip file to your local machine, then in WordPress Admin panel, select Appearances, Add New Themes, Upload, and select the file you just downloaded via the Browse button, then Install now, and Activate.

    cant find appearances?

    Oops, see you are using an old version (2.6.2), but you need to be at 2.8.4 for that method of installing themes to work.

    It's possible that theme doesn't work with older versions.

    Please consider upgrading.
