    Using child of twenty eleven.
I have a page that displays only the featured image thumbnail for specific posts of a category.
I'd like to add a hover/rollover box with the post title to those thumbnails.
Most of the related forum topics are missing answers.
    Anyone? Bueller?

Do you meant to say Alt tag of HTML? If so try this link:

    http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_img_alt.asp

If not explain further with a link to your site to understand the question.

    It's not alt, it's title that creates a pop-up on mouse-over.

Yes was thinking of something else. We have a final day of football in UK and so I am more concerned about it at the moment.

    It is indeed the tile.

    Here's the page:

Looking to eliminate the default rollover popover box thing and have a div with a fancier style slide up in a specific position on the thumbnail.

Yep, those are the title="XXX" attributes assigned to each image. To get rid of them, you'll have to go through and remove that from each image. I think fancier pop-ups are usually done with Javascript -- there are probably plug-ins to do something like that -- search the plug-ins page.
