Page Layout Options wont save changes (9 posts)

The problem can be drawn back to 7.10.13, and after that point the "Page Layout Options" content box will not save any changes made to it. The Layout defaults to right sidebar. I choose BLOG SIDEBAR and click UPDATE and nothing. The default choices return to the drop down menus.

    Facts:

I can change any text and have it successfully update
None of the other widgets placed in the right sidebar update either
I've replaced the JS folder by uploading through FileZilla
I've deactivated all the plugins with no success
The theme being used is Kayapati
Other widgets placed in the blog sidebar area on the widgets page also do not upload, themed or not.
As I moved the widgets to the inactive area, they would copy but not move. The widgets would stay in the active area as well. (This can't be normal, can it?)

Any assistance with correcting this problem would be amazing. Please Help!

I'm having the exact same problem and it just started for me on my last update. I'm also using a Theme by Kayapati (electra) but in my case he doesn't have a page for it anymore. Wondering what we can do! Stinks!

@john.mahoney: As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. Please note we only support themes downloaded from wordpress.org here.

I'm also having the same problem as john.mahoney (also with Kayapati authored theme). Came with version 3.6 as well.

I think the question is: What changed regarding how the pages save in the last update and how should we retrograde our themes based on the update?

@esmi: If this is the wrong place for this, please advise on where and how to post.

    Thanks in advance.

That would be on the theme developer's page/site with ThemeForest - as commercial themes aren't supported on these forums:

@WPyogi: Gotcha. I'm just trying to use this as a way to learn "How-to" by hacking this already developed theme, and imagine it may help others as well. The developer doesn't support it anymore so I'd love to learn the cause of the break and fix it.

Thanks for the resources WPyogi. Debug mode says:

Notice: get_theme_data is deprecated since version 3.4! Use wp_get_theme() instead.

I'm guessing that is the problem. Trying to figure out how to replace the deprecated code now.

@john.mahoney, you ever have any luck??

No luck for me yet. I communicated directly with Kayapati who was very nice and willing to help but nothing he sent me has worked so far. As a last resort I manually edited my right sidebar PHP so that it would not say "sidebar widget goes here" nonsense and I'm just living with that for the time being. Going to check out the debugging links above
