Oh gosh, I feel like such a newb, really ashamed but here goes. I did the 5 minute install. I made SURE my provider had PHP and MySQL. I kept DB_NAME to wordpress and the user and password the same as on MySQL admin. Uploaded the whole directory under /wordpress/ as instructed.

    Went to my site: http://www.jackbellows.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php...
    nothing.

The site hangs. Pure snow, the white of a thousand Russian winters, the white of an Elizabethan lady's breasts, the color of...

You get the idea. I tried different variations, w/o the directory, attempted to install again from the FTP client, emailed my provider but haven't heard back from them, so on and so forth. Obviously went through the forums here as well as Google.

Here's what I think: its something so obvious, so in my face, I don't see it.

Can you lead me to the point, push my nose in it and say, "hey, look" *rub my nose at the issue* "fix it! Now!"

    Ideas, suggestions, help!?!?!

  2. Well, I'd say that PHP is probably miss-configured. However, there is a possibility that you have not uploaded all of the WordPress files. So, delete what you have, download WordPress again, and try installing again.

On the subject of the wp-config.php file, you will need to create the MySQL database first, then enter that info into the wp-config.php file. See this for more info: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Detailed_Instructions

Went to the codex site and followed the instructions for phpMyAdmin, my provider is using a really old version, 2.1 or something.

Long story short, still no success. So.....drop me an email so we can discuss ways to get this up and running by a professional and payment methods.

    Word.

  4. As long as you're offering some compensation, I highly recommend contacting Podz. He's the best we have. http://www.tamba2.org.uk/T2/contacting-me/

Yeah, looks like there is a problem with your PHP or webserver install, because instead of processing the PHP, it is just spitting out the source code. (Leaving your username/password out in the open, btw.)
