The plugin was going fine, I created pages, uploaded images, created galleries with no problems.
Now when I upload images, or Scan Folder for New Images, the page goes white, and it does not recognize the images in the gallery folder.
And no, my images are not too large.
What is going on?

Well, it turns out the images weren't optimized for the web. In Photoshop, I changed all resolutions to 72 dpi (they were 100), then "Save for Web..." preset JPEG MEDIUM or thereabouts and the problem was fixed.
It seems if images are optimized, they're read in too large when you upload.
