[resolved] Page Doesn't Update after Change (30 posts)

When I make an update to my site I can only see the change on my computer when I am logged in. If I log out, I no longer see the change.

This affects any plugins I use, or posting. If I make a change and view it on my cell phone/tablet/another computer, then the change made is seen immediately.

    Any advice?

It seems that you use a caching plugin that creates that behavior.

Thanks Marko. Any idea how to change the behavior or identify which plugin?

Probably a plugin with the word 'cache' in it. It just an assumption but seems valid. Not sure what kind of hosting you have. They maybe also try to cache things.

Disabled all plugins and did a Ctrl+F5 refresh and the issue still remains.

    Which theme are you using?

Custom theme. I tried switching to another theme and verifying if the problem still existed. My custom theme still shows even after doing a Ctrl+F5 and Ctrl+Shift+R.

It's difficult to debug the issue hypothetically, can you provide a link to the problematic website?

I'm using Firefox. I also cleared the recent history. This cleared out everything:
    browsing & download history
    form & search history
    cookies
    cache
    active logins
    offline website data
    site preferences

Did a refresh of the page and there is still no update.

I can't see any changes within your Child Theme stylesheet, other than what is necessary http://www.pofdatingfails.com/wp-content/themes/pof/style.css

Please disabled the plugin: WP Super Cache and check if your site updates then.

I don't know the plugin but there is probably a clear cache button somewhere

Also you can see the page version in the source code of the page.
The home page is generated on 2012-12-26 11:43:05

    Andrew,
Are you asking to see the css/styles.css file?

    Marko,
WP Super Cache has never been activated.

What change did you make and where?

The change made is a posting. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't see the problem I am seeing unless you were to login and make a post yourself.

I created the latest post "Compatibility = Attraction?" If I am logged in, I can see this post. If I log out, I no longer see this post.

If I look at the site on my cellphone, I can see the post.

I don't know whether you're logged in or not, but I can see that post http://awesomescreenshot.com/02dqzlw18

    Are you logged in?

Doesn't matter if I'm logged in or not for you. On any other computer that I haven't logged in with, I do not have this problem. It's only on the computer that I have logged in with.

So, if I were to take my second computer, login, make a post and log out, I would not be able to see that post. If I were to check that site on my tablet, I would be able to see the post immediately.

    When you log out :-
Does the post disappear from a particular template and is it still accessible directly through its URL?

If I type in the full url, i can access the site. It disappears from the Fails page. But I can see it on the Archive Page

For instance.. I just created a Test post. I can see "Test" under the Archive Page, but see "Compatibility = Attraction" as my latest post on the Fails page

So other posts on the Fails page still show? Perhaps there's some delay with new posts before they appear on the Fails page.
Are you willing to provide the code of Fail page's template file? If so, copy it all & paste it into http://pastebin.com , then link us that PasteBin'd page.

I don't see the harm in sharing it. I hope I did this right

WP Super Cache is activated. Otherwise why does it says so in your source code.
Also the time of last change has been changed to 2012-12-26 13:48:52

WP Super Cache showed a link to Activate. Just to be sure, I deleted the plugin along with all associated files and data.

Thats weird. Probably due the files in the wp-content folder and that WP_CACHE is true in your wp-config.php file.

Do you still have the issues you had?

    Marko,

After deleting the WP Super Cache files, I've made some quick updates and see the changes immediately.

Looks like the issue is resolved.

Thanks for all the help. It is greatly appreciated!

I now get the issue you had. Because the caching part was still working all the pages still getting cached. Because you disabled the plugin the invalidation of pages after a change stopped working.

    Hi Marko and Andrew

I am so very thankful to you, I had exactly the same problem, I just read all your conversation and I have fixed it too.

I was confused because I had uninstalled the WP Super Cache plugin, and it hadn't fixed it, but by the end of your conversation, I realised I had to delete it. I did, and whooollah!

Great job guys, thanks so much
    Marly

ps do you recommend another Caching plugin that's is better? Is a caching plugin necessary?
