   Hello,

   I have just FTP'd WordPress, setup mysql,
   edited WordPress with my username, password, etc.
   now at the install stage >
   http://www.blog.alanlambephotography.com/public_html/
   things are fine . . .

   If I fill in my details and click 'INSTALL WORDPRESS'
   the address on the next page is >
   http://www.blog.alanlambephotography.com/public_html/install.php?step=2
   and I get a message, [HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.]

   I have installed all the files twice and checked all the installation files but can only see two install files, INSTALL & INSTAL-HELPER . . .

   is there something silly im doing or not?

   Huh! How are you managing to run wp-admin/install.php in your root web folder?

   Get rid of all of the files and re-upload everything. This time make absolutely sure that you preserve the folder structure - wp-admin (and sub-folders), wp-includes (and sub-folders) and wp-content (and sub-folders).

   sorry bout this but do I just upload all files in and with the original wordpress folder after I edit the config file?

   does it need to go into a 'public_html' folder?

   I have tried this several ways and still not happening?

   If you want to run your WP site from your root domain (ie http://www.blog.alanlambephotography.com/), then don't upload the wordpress folder itself. Just the files and folders inside it.
