not to write a comment! to write a blog post without login or register.

under settings there is nothing else???

I don’t think so – because doing that means there is no way to control the content of the site; which would pretty much go against 98% of what the software is intended for.

If you’re trying to allow people to post without “seeing” the backend of your site – then p2 does that already.

If you’re trying to “moderate” the content that people can post (which I doubt) I recommend using a combination of 2 plugins: Adminimize and Theme My Login.

I’m with the original poster. What I’d like to do is build a family site that is password protect (the whole site has a single password for everyone) and have family members that don’t need to log in, but have gotten past the initial password screen, be able to post P2 style by putting in their name and post, really easily.

The idea here is to prevent family members who aren’t so computer savvy form having to remember a username and password, but still have the ability to post and respond easily.

    google .htaccess password

    RVoodoo,

The password isn’t the problem. That’s solved with the WP-Password plugin which works great! The questions is how do you enable ANYONE to post a blog entry? P2 has the right interface, but there is no permission set that allows that. Sure, there would have to be another field added called “Author” to the post form, but that could be done, I’m sure.

There is a plugin called Anonymous Posting http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/anon-posting/

It’s a custom field thing and I couldn’t get it to work but maybe someone can steer us in the right direction. It also has a reCAPTCHA, which is nice. 🙂
