    Hi there!

I love the Oxygen theme but I haven’t quite figured it out yet.
    There are 3 things:

    1. I can’t seem to get the black navigation menu (left sidebar) to appear
    2. I can’t seem to get the blue navigation menu (header) to appear
    3. What should I do to get posts under “recent articles” and “more articles”?

I’ve made a menu of pages and put the menu widget in the “primary widget area” and there does appear a menu, but not the black box one.

What to do, what to do?

    My site:

Example of how i’d like it to be:

i have the same theme. you will have to go to the widgets section, and where it says “primary” you will have to drag the “categories” tab… and for the menu widget you will have to simply add the “pages” you want….

but i have a question… how do you get the picture slider to appear? i can’t seem to do that

    Hello Stichtingstaal,

    1) A) To set up the Blue Menus head to:
    Appearance > Menus
    B) Click The plus (if you hover over it, it will say “Add Menu”), give it a name and press “Save”.

    C) To the left of that should be some smaller boxes, find the one labelled “Pages”, click “View All and select “Home” (You can add more later) and then “Add To Menu”. It should appear on the right, click “Save Menu”.

    D) Then go to the “Theme Locations” box and under “Primary” select your menu” and press save.

    E) If you go to your WordPress site “home” should appear =]

    2) A) To set up the Black Menus head to:
    Appearance > Menus
    B) Click the plus again, give it a name and press “Save”

    C) To the left of that should be some smaller boxes, find the one labelled “categories”, click “View All and select “Uncategorized” and then “Add To Menu”. It should appear on the right, click “Save Menu”.

    D) Then go to the “Theme Locations” box and under “Secondary” select your second menu and press save.

    E) If you go to your WordPress site it should appear =]

(Note: For both of these, as you add new pages and categories, you can add these to your menus by ticking them and selecting “add to menu”, but dont forget to click “save menu” after editing them.)

    Hope this helps =]

Whoops missed 3. (3. What should I do to get posts under “recent articles” and “more articles”?)

Well to do this when you create a new post, there are several options in the box “Location”. Each of these send the post to different places, “Featured” puts it in the slide show.
“Primary” puts it in the Recent articles
and “Secondary” puts it in the more articles.

Unfortunately this theme requires you to update everything manually so when you different posts in “recent” and “more” you have to change them all.

    Hope this helps =]

    Got it! Thanks so much!

Thanks for the information, I’ve got another question.

How can I create a ‘home’ page, I mean, how can I have an static image in the very center of the home, so that it seems to be a website.

    Sorry for my English… : )

    Hello
I had almost same question as stichtingstaal.
And I tried the solution as gsarcasm wrote.

But I still can not solve about “recent articles” and “more articles” part.
I checked the Primary or Secondary on each articles but my new post does not come to the “recent articles” or “more articles”.

    Thanks !

    This might help:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/pages-along-top-not-sidebar?replies=9#post-2841732

This helped me fix both the top “bar-style” page menu, and the slider feature. It will also tell you how to place the other featured articles.

Too bad devpress doesn’t have better (FREE!) support, but the WP community seems to be happy to help one another.

    good luck.

I’m still working on mine, I’ll try to post a link when I’ve got it done.

    Hello

I am trying to get my oxygen theme just like the demo: http://demo.alienwp.com/oxygen/

But there is no way i can figure out how to make the header with the big photo’s and the text beneath the black menu.

    Can anyone help me?

    thnx!

try the above links in the wordpress forums, they all helped me. Also, if you are having problems getting your images to appear in the slider window, do not mark them “sticky”

This option is on the Edit Post page, in the Publish box, under “Visibility.” On other themes, in order to get a post in a featured position, you have to mark it “Sticky,” in Oxygen, to have it appear in the slider, go down to the Location box, and mark it “Featured.”

To have it appear underneath your slider as a thumbnail, mark it “Primary.” The “Secondary” option will give you a link without a thumbnail.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I can’t seem to get the ‘categories’ off of my featured image. They just started showing up and I have no idea what I did (I’m sure its something stupid, but I’m not very good at wordpress yet)

This has been a very helpful read. Im stuck on one thing still.

I am not seeing the “location” option on my posts.

I am using it as a theme on WordPress.Com. Could that have anything to do with it?

    Hi,
    1. I am trying to remove the horizontal gray bar above all posts. The bar says “Home / <insert title of post here> “

    Example: http://playingwithsticks.ca/rough-tumble-play/

    2. What is the BEST sizing for images to be featured on the “Front Page” / Slideshow

    Thank you!

    Hi,

I originally used oxygen on the free wordpress site and there was a header by default.

Now I installed oxygen on http://saeedshahani.com but there was no header in the theme options. Can anyone help me to get the header once again?
