Well I've been working on a new theme for some time, and just been refreshing the "modify theme" page with no problems for quite a while, otherwise I would have discovered this earlier.
This morning I had to re-start my browser and when attempting to log back into WP I realised that when I updated WP last month I'd overwritten the wp-config file by mistake and I was presented with a few warnings and the "Welcome to WP" Installation page. I went back to the wp-config file and put in my database details again, and yet I was still presented with the same screen. I entered in my email address and the name of my blog hoping it would recognise me and go back to where I was, blissfully ignoring the warnings which I couldn't find anything wrong with and pressed Install WordPress. The next page comes up with the same warnings and nothing else. I get:

Warning: mysql_get_server_info() [function.mysql-get-server-info]: Access denied for user 'herstori'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/herstori/public_html/phantom/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/schema.php on line 6

Warning: mysql_get_server_info() [function.mysql-get-server-info]: A link to the server could not be established in /home/herstori/public_html/phantom/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/schema.php on line 6

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/herstori/public_html/phantom/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/schema.php:6) in /home/herstori/public_html/phantom/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php on line 17

All my database details are correct, I had enough trouble over getting them to know that. I've uploaded "schema.php" again, too. Other than that I can't see what the problem is unless I've overwritten another file by mistake, and need to rectify that - either way can anyone see the problem and give me a solution - preferably so that I don't lose all my posts and pages. Thanks

    Access denied for user 'herstori'@'localhost'

All my database details are correct

One of these statements is incorrect. Try and guess which one.

Note that WordPress cannot produce the "Access denied" message. That came from your database server.

Just checked and my host's database is down. Lol.
    Thanks for the quick reply!
