So something happened that was weird. I was editing a page, lets say this....

    http://widgets.com/best-widgets/red

Once I updating the page in WordPress, for some reason the page went to this permalink automatically, and won't let me change it...

    http://widgets.com/best-widgets/red-2

I can't see the original page anywhere in the Admin, and also, the worst part, is that when I go here...

    http://widgets.com/best-widgets/red

For some reason, it shows me a duplicate of the parent page at...

    http://widgets.com/best-widgets/red

I checked the permalink on the parent page, and it had the normal permalink.

So I think i created "duplicate content" somehow, and have no idea how to get rid of it, as WordPress won't let me change the permalinks, and it doesn't show the duplicate pages in the WordPress Admin to delete.

So my question is this, can I overwrite an existing permalink somehow? Is there another solution to bring my URL's back into order and get rid of the duplicate content? Please help!

Try emptying your Post & Page Trash.

Thanks for your help, but emptying the trash didn't work. Anyone else have any other suggestions?

    I'm having the same issue.

I can't find the duplicate page which is
    http://www.sciorfi.com/categories/movies/back-to-the-future-2/

    originally the link is
    http://www.sciorfi.com/categories/movies/back-to-the-future/

It only shows up on the search results.
I can't find it anywhere on the admin area.
