I've searched the forums and have not been able to find a recent discussion on the alternatives to creating a system whereby our readers can subscribe to comments.
I've seen some older discussions of the plug-in Subscribe to Comments.
Is that the best alternative? Are there others?
As a novice at all of this, I'm always a bit cautious about adding stuff to a site that is working for fear I will mess it up. So, any feedback on the alternatives and their "reliability" will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance to those who offer help.
Steve
That plugin is certainly often used. I used it before and it works fine.
You could consider going for Disqus or IntenseDebate. These are all-in comment management systems you can use on your WordPress site.

I use Comment Notifier from Sat.

I ... erm .. fixed the security flaws and it's running exactly how I would expect a comment subscription to be like. Overall I recommend it if you're not worried about that sort of thing.

There is a fix for potential spam over at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/390744?replies=2
What other security flaws did you fix & how?
Thank you.
I find Comment Notifier to work nicely, so far.
