Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on requiring a user to login before being able to comment on a blog vs. not requiring a login.
Thanks.

I've read that many blog owner think making people register to comment is counter-productive.
1.) How is it "counter-productive?" Because it makes it more difficult to participate?
2.) I am thinking of integrating a message forum and linking them so they will use the same login. Does anyone know of any sites that integrate something like this?
Thanks!!!
1. That is correct. People won't register.
2. Simple Forum plugin or bbPress are two possible candidates.
I know about phpBB. Where would I find these other two that you suggested? Are you familiar with some type of review of all of them?
Thanks!!!
Sorry--those two can be found at http://simplepressforum.com/ http://bbpress.org/
Can't specifically suggest a review for those but I'd guess a search will get you something.
Thanks!
SimplePress forum is bloated and overkill, but it seamlessly integrates into your blog and theme.
BBpress is lightweight and functional (this forum itself stands testimony for its efficiency!). But you'll have to labour hard for integrating it with your blog.
My 2 bits.

Hi kichu,
1.) How difficult is it to integrate BBpress with a blog?
2.) When you say SimplePress is "bloated and overkill," does it just have too many features or does it have so many features that it is slow and hard to use?
Thanks!!!
