• Hi,

I’m relatively new to WordPress and I’m currently setting up a site that uses WP as its backbone. I’ve a few plugins installed and wondered whether it is worth upgrading to 2.8 or not?

As far as I can see the pro’s are that you are up-to-date with the latest version.

However, the cons are that plugins can break and your site may start failing.

I’m in two minds whether to upgrade and I’m leaning towards thinking ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ but I’m not sure if this is the right attitude and wondered what others do?

Do you just upgrade regardless and if it breaks plugins then so-be-it or are some people still happy with a previous version of WP because it does everything they need?

    Thoughts/advice/ideas…?

  • I upgraded all of my 8 blogs to 2.8, Johnny, and I’m having problems on every one of them. From now on when a new version is released, I’ll upgrade one of them and see how it works before I’ll even think about touching the others.

Wait 2 weeks. By then, 2.8.1 will probably be released, and you should be safe to upgrade.

Thanks for the advice… After doing some more research it was kinda what I was thinking… let the bugs get ironed out and then take the plunge!

Thanks again and good luck with the patching up LarryInVegas
