Openid produces internal server error 500 when, upon attempted authentication:

    My setup:

IIS 6.0, PHP 5.2.5 as CGI application
    +
    +404 wp hack (see below)
    +permalinks set to blog/%postname%.html
    +OpenID Plugin
    +5.2.1 libmysql.dll replacement

    Notes:
CGI required because of IIS failure to display homepage, http://www.simmonsconsulting.com/2008/04/21/running-a-wordpress-blog-in-site-root-using-iis/

404 permalinks IIS hack for WP to allow domain.com/blog/postname.html
    http://tech.einaregilsson.com/2007/07/30/pretty-wordpress-permalinks-on-iis

libmysql.dll replacemente to overcome error as described:
    http://forum.swsoft.com/showthread.php?t=50079

    Attempted remedy:
When i revert php mode to ISAPI, openid functions correctly with no error messages, however I am limited by the bug in IIS which display a blank homepage in WP.

How can i resolve the compatability of this plugin and the openid authentication with my IIS host setup??
