Open album in lightbox

Is it possible to open albums in a lightbox with the new version of nextgen?

Previously I had followed this tutorial from this support forum, which worked brilliantly for me, but since updating the plugin, it no longer works. This was the perfect solution for me and I wish it came as standard in the plugin, but is there a way around so I can reintegrate this?
