WP to Twitter
[resolved] only posting when i update custom twitter post (10 posts)

    I have an odd issue.
I am updating a post everyday and adding to it.
The title remains the same just the content is updated, but it's my understanding that with the settings of "update when post is edited" it should still post to my twitter.
    However, it does not.

It only appears to post when I edit the Custom Twitter post area, which is located at the bottom of the post page within the WP to Twitter box.

Is there a way to just have it do what it's supposed to do without me having to make up a Custom Twitter post each time?

Do you ever edit or publish other posts?

WP to Twitter keeps a record of the last Tweet sent to Twitter, and checks new Tweets against that Tweet to avoid duplication. This is important because Twitter will automatically reject any duplicate Tweet over a short period of time, and I want to protect against that.

If you were to include a variable template tag in the Tweet template (or the custom Tweet edit field), such as #modified#, the post modified date, that would ensure that each Tweet was distinct.

also wanted to note, i tried republishing the date to the current date.
also, it has a failed tweet log that is very long, so know it is not posting.
and therefore the error doesn't seem to be the post with same title within 24 hours issue.

i actually noticed i am having the same issue on another blog, where i post new posts each time, once a week.

    it just doesn't tweet.

in terms of the first blog mentioned, that blog only has the current post being updated daily.

Changing the date of the post won't matter if you aren't including the modified date in your Tweet; did you try that?

i tried it with the #modified# tag, but as i said, it only posts if i actually change that box at the bottom, and since i changed it by adding the #modified# tag, of course it posted. but if i post again without changing the bottom part it still doesn't post to twitter.

In the failed Tweet log, what is the error message reported? It should give an error code.

it appears that using the #modified# tag does post when i update the post. not ideal as it takes up character space, but it works.

It's either that or you need to make some manual change to the text every time; this is a mandate by Twitter, and there's really nothing I can do. You can customize the text format for the tie to minimize the characters it takes up.
