My web site consists of four major areas, presented in a horizontal menu, e.g.:

    Area 1 | Area 2 | Area 3 | Area 4

Now, when in Area 1 I want the sidebar to only list the first level of sub-pages for that area, e.g.:

    – Sub-Page 1 of Area 1
    – Sub-Page 2 of Area 1
    – Sub-Page 3 of Area 1

When a user navigates deeper I want to additionally show the sub-pages of the current branch, e.g.:

    – Sub-Page 1 of Area 1
    – Sub-Page 2 of Area 1
    – – Sub Page 1 of Sub-Page 2
    – – Sub Page 2 of Sub-Page 2
    – – Sub Page 3 of Sub-Page 2
    – Sub-Page 3 of Area 1

Can someone please point me to a widget or template tag that can achieve that? I have tried Flexi Pages, Sub Pages and various other widgets and I studied wp_list_pages but I do not seem to get anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated.
