[resolved] Only half website is showing up after upgrade (4 posts)

I recently upgraded from an older wordpress. I backed up everything, left in the wp-config and the other ones as instructed. Now only half my site shows up, as if the old theme I was using (Random Images) is not compatible or something. If you scroll down and click on 'login' it takes me to the same page, but there is a 404 error in the middle of the page (where a post should be). Any ideas?

Which file should I re-upload? Did I make a mistake somewhee else down the line? Should I update the wp-config-sample.php with my server info and then change the name and upload that one? My internet kinda sucks - go comcast!

    Any ideas are appreciated:

    Thanks.

First thing to check: is your "old theme" compatible with the latest WP version?

I know that during the upgrade we do NOt overwrite the wp-content folder, so I'd suggest this:
    - from the downloaded 2.5 package upload the default theme to wp-content/themes/default
    - switch to the default theme
    - check if your blog works

If it does, you need to update your theme.

This had crossed my mind. I'll give it a whirl. Thanks.

I figured it out. My theme WAS compatible, but in the process I wanted to change the blog to the main page, which I did during the upgrade, which is why it didn't work.

    For example:

My OLD wordpress was at http://www.example.com/blog, after backing everything up I switched the NEW version to http://www.example.com and then tried to upgrade it.

So all I had to do was move the files in my FTP folder from the main page (html) to the blog folder (html > blog). Easy Peesy. Thanks for the help.
