    Hey,

I really need to setup a wildcard but my website is hosted at One.com.
Now they told me One.com doesn't allow wildcards :s
    What must I do now?
    Many thanks in advance !

  2. Use subfolders, or manually make subdomains and point them to where WP is installed.

But when I do that, I cant share the members between my sites :(
    Many thanks for the reply!

  4. Yes you can.

Subfolders are a built in option of WP Multisite.

Manual subdomains means you make subdomains per usuall, but instead of automatically having them added on the server, you MANUALLY make a subdomain and point it to where WP is installed.

So, do I have to make a map in my FTP with the name of the subdomain?
Because that's what is also did before but the problem is, I have to manually add the existing users in my subdomain and I want WordPress to do it automatically.

  6. Not in FTP at all and you don't add the users.

    Make a subdomain: http://faq.1and1.co.uk/domains/domains_explained/subdomains/3.html

Then you CHANGE where it points:
    http://faq.1and1.co.uk/domains/domain_admin/domain_dest/2.html

So on step 5, you change it to point to / and not /subdomain

If you're trying to do this on shared hosting with an addon domain you can do it if your host allows you to add subdomains.

    Step 1:
Create the following subdomain like so:
    *mysite.com
    /public_html/mysite.com/

*Note - Make sure to enter your domain without the www after public_html/

    Step 2:
Then create an A name with *mysite.com A 14400 YOUR IP

The following steps have been tested in cpanel with an addon domain and shared hosting with Arvixe.com

If the steps above do not work you're stuck with sub directories unless you switch to better host.

But I have no already made websites on my Subdomains.
If I have a new host, and setup a multisite. Is there a way to transfer my old subdomains then to my new sites?

Yeh you can export everything and then transfer it to the new host.
