One Password/Username for multiple users? (3 posts)

I have created an online portfolio of my writing work, using WordPress privately hosted on my own domain.

I do not want this work publically displayed. I want to control who has access to it. I have a separate site for public work.

I have been looking for a plugin to lock the site down, and they all seem to rely on the standard WordPress user/password/email set up. But this isn't quite what I'm looking for -

I will be sending my cv out to a number of people and companies over the coming months. In order that it is as simple as possible for these potential clients to access my site, I want to have a single username, or at most a username/password which I can send out to EVERYONE without needing their email and without problems occurring if two clients try to access the blog at the same time using this universal pass/user

To keep it secure I would simply change the details every fortnight or month.

Does anyone know of a plugin or other method for achieving this?

Simplicity is the key! I know that online marketers use surveys to unlock WordPress blogs so I assume there must be something like that available as a simple lock and key for general use!

Can't you just do that via your cPanel, password-protect directory?

I had never heard of that. And didn't realise it was possible.
I just followed the tutorial you linked to and set it up.

It's an excellent solution - perfect, in fact, for what I wanted.

And far better that any plugin!

    Very many thanks!
