I'm not planning to add support for video, but I can help out with a couple of those cons. Meteor Slides doesn't have slide captions built in, but you can add them in your theme using a custom slideshow template. And if you find yourself needing to sort the slides a lot or want something more user friendly, try the Post Types Order plugin, which will add drag and drop sorting.
