• I just spent several hours rebuilding my site as once i upgraded to 3.51 my jscrollpane plugin stopped working.

I love that upgrading is one click. Could there be an added option to reinstall the previous version of wordpress if it turns out there are issues once a user upgrades?

    Thanks.

This is why we tell you to make a backup first 🙂

Also for minor upgrades (3.5 to 3.5.1), you can manually reinstall WP’s core files, without having to ‘rebuild’ anything.

I know that is the idea behind backing up, which i did. But it would still be easier and faster and more efficient to do a one click to reinstall a previous version.

Reinstalling a backup does not replace all the additional work that many people do to customize their themes. It is that work that has to be redone and takes time. Add that not everyone can do a manual install.

Surely one click to a previous or earlier version is not something that will be hard to implement and it would save many people a lot of dicking around.

It does, that’s the whole point of creating a backup. Going back to the backup lets you roll back to the working state, kind of like having a time machine.

Unless you upgrade, make customizations, then downgrade again. But if you find that something isn’t working and want to roll back right away, there’s no point in making customizations.

It can be hard to implement especially when there are changes in the database schema.
