   OMG... most of my categories have just disappeared, and I have no idea why... In the post edit list they show 'uncategorised' but when i edit the post the category is there and ticked??? i've deleted any new plugins i've activated recently. It just happened today without any reason. Also my posts don't have their images anymore (from external urls)... this is so weird! Any help greatly appreciated.

   Any good/EASY links to updating my database appreciated too.

   Are your categories all visible in the Dasboard-Posts-Categories view, with the number of posts in the column to the right?

   No they are not... BUT there are still the page numbers indicating there are more categories, BUT the other pages are empty... some of my posts have magically re-appeared on my website that belong to certain categories, other posts are not due to their categories missing

   Hi,

   if you have a special permalinks setting, try switching to the default setting, hit save and have a look.
   Then switchback to what you had and look again.
   It's under Dashboard/Settings/Permalinks

   I am still curious how you solved it; anyway it looks normal now.

   Yeah it was REALLY weird... I think I editedsaved one post from each catergory and then the categories came back... it was almost as if they needed to be 'woken up'. Very weird, a bit scarey even!
