well I've been trying to get to google to like me...I had a redirect to my hosting, so I changed that. Set up an A record and all of that. Then I found out about canonical issues and that my old host name still existed online. So basically 3 addresses, duplicate content...annoy google again. Asked host if I could do a 301...it's asp.net, I don't have permissions to do it.
They said we can just get rid of the other aliases and leave my domain name.
Along with them I think my database has gone! There's no wordpress login page...although when I look in filezilla the files are all still there.
By blog is there but no pictures, no formatting, just text.
I went in my control panel, the old domain name with attached database is still there...I have no idea what to do now! I have no access to database through CP..so I've downloaded a mysql workbench, not that I know what to do with it.

There must be a database present - otherwise, there'd be no blog. It sounds very much like a path issue to me.

So because my database is on my old domain...but now the path doesn't exist my wordpress can't get to it?

If the database was not on the same server as your site, it's highly unlikely that your site would work at all. If you've changed the site's url, try reviewing Changing_The_Site_URL.

Oh yes it was on the same server...they just let me use my proper domain name that I bought as an alias. I did all the changing the site url stuff already. However they chose the www version to stay...I had changed the details to non-www version.
But now I just can't get into the dashboard and all pictures disappeared, I can't get in to make the changes!
http://www.tracymorter.com/blog/ it seems just the front page is there...not my posts.

Well, get them to change it to the non-www domain name.
