Old server crashed - Transferring files from computer backup (2 posts)

    Hi,

I have been trying to transfer my wordpres 3.0.4 site to a new server with a new domain name. I have a copy of the database and all the WP files copied to my computer, and need to upload this to my new host server.

The problem is, I can no longer access the old server, nor my original wordpress admin page. I tried uploading the files via FTP but the upload was incomplete.

My new host is bluehost, and they allow for wordpress installs using Simple Scripts. Is it possible to use that to import the files from my computer (using a local server, perhaps?) or is the only way via FTP and manually checking trough all the files and folders to make sure they are present?

Finally, if this is the case, is there anywhere I'd need to change the details for the new domain name? I understand it's suggested that I'd need to go back to my original wordpress admin, and change the details there, but as mentioned, I can no longer access it.

I apologise if this is a bit confusing, but I am very confused!

Thanks in advance for any help on the matter. It will be hugely appreciated.

If you have access to your former hosting account, see if your former host has PHPMyAdmin and export a copy of your .sql file, or see if your host can do that for you. Once you have the .sql file, use PHPMyAdmin on your new host to import it into your new database.

Importing it will get you back all of your content.

You may need to empty your current tables on the new host before you will be able to import the backed-up .sql file.

    The following should help:
