I finally got everything moved over and working except I lost my presence on Google. I was #8 in cruise blogs, but now have pretty much disappeared. After extensive reading, it appears all my old links with /wordpress in them can't be found. Here is an example:

Regent Seven Seas Cruises Offers Winner’s Parade at CarnavalRegent Seven Seas Cruises is once again going the extra mile to provide a memorable cruise experience to its loyal followers by giving them the opportunity ...

    is now http://www.yourcruiseyourway.com/2007/11/28/regent-seven-seas-cruises-offers-winners-parade-at-carnaval/

I'm just not getting the "Pretty Permalinks" thing (if that's what will fix it) but my question is how do I get all the old links with /wordpress in them to redirect to the new same pages that don't have /wordpress in them?

I don't know if this is the best solution, but maybe you should move the wordpress files back to where they were domain.com/wordpress. Then, you change your blog url to domain.com, so both links will work just fine. Using sitemaps, submit only your domain.com urls to google. Wait till google only link to your domain.com pages, and move your installation to domain.com. It may take a while but at least you won't lose visits while you move.

    Redirect 301 /wordpress/ http://www.yourcruiseyourway.com/ was the answer

I feel dumb, but I learned!
