[resolved] Old Comment Imported--Cannot Delete (6 posts)

I while back I was fooling around with using the Disqus plugin on my website. I ended up deleting the plugin, but not before a "test comment" I made was imported to the Disqus server. Since then I deleted the whole website and gave it a proper overhaul.

Recently, I decided to give the Disqus plugin another try with the new website. I was surprised to see that the old test comment imported again automatically under the description of a "pending" post in the backend. However, there isn't a box beside the comment to check in order to move it to the trash, and pressing the trash button doesn't work either. It just deeps reappearing. The original post it was attached to was gone at this point so now it appears that the comment is in limbo; WordPress won't let me delete since it's not attached to anything it and I can't get rid of it even through the Discus interface.

Is there any way I can get into the code somewhere and manually delete the comment that was imported?

We have the exact same problem. An old deleted comment is in limbo. I'm looking up for solutions over the Net. If I find it, I'll tell you. Could you do the same for me?

    Thank you!

Sure thing. :) I haven't been able to find a solution yet, but when I do I'll post it here.

    I figured it out.

    1) Go to Disqus advance settings, then go to Advance Options (upper right). Under Import/Export, click the tickbox () "Remove all imported Disqus comments before syncing". Then, click Sync Comments. This should transfer your comments from Disqus to WordPress. If you have other deleted comments, it will show up as pending (mine was from 1 it became 16). Don't worry.

    2) Install this plug-in "Bulk Comment Remove". Install, activate, and go to its settings (under Tools). Click remove all comments.

    3) Bingo. Worries gone.

Hope this works also for you. It worked for me.

I know this is marked as solved but I wanted everyone to know this that this is still very much valid as of WordPress v3.3.1 and Disqus v2.70.

    +1 tigerjake
