ok, I think I figured it out
guy had moved his site ANOTHER time before this, thus when I did the find and replace in the DB it only changed the single previous wordpress install location, guy had about 400 pages/posts so I didn't see that until I looked through all of them. So I did the find and replace for the other previous wordpress install location and it seems to be working fine, will confirm again after I finally fix the other things.

at this point, this is seriously ruining a lot of my business income, probably losing clients tomorrow because im going to just tell them to F off I just designed the site for wordpress and this isn't my problem, and making me seriously rethink my career.
i can't even find my ticket on trac, i don't think anyone ever replied to it.

after reading that, that gave me an idea about other WP sites I had this problem with before, and the solution was to take the tag and category out (since these pages are based on categories etc). so your category and tag fields in the permalinks options is empty (you can still do whatever you'd like with the top permalink common settings, but do not fill out the optional settings.
this is of course happening with certain templates, in this case adding the category name broke anything or tag.
this is a vaguely explained solution, I will post a full post on my blog about what happened here and explain the solution in more detail and post the link here over the holidays....

1) They NEVER delete trac tickets. Ever. They may close them, but they don't delete. It's just not done. Search for whatever name you entered the ticket under (I didn't find any for vinautomatic on http://core.trac.wordpress.org but I don't know if you used that ID)
2) I read the article.
Every article on the net I have seen written by an SEO expert regarding WordPress permalinks suggests that users either use
/%postname%or/%category%/%postname%for their permalink structure. This is a bad idea for many reasons, which I will cover below, yet the SEO experts continue to promote it.
That made me laugh. I know NO SEO 'expert' who touts that. (also the article uses the codex suggestion of starting with a number as an SEO thing when it's really a performance issue, which marks the author down on my reliability list).
3. This one's past my ability to sort out. I can't reproduce it, and I don't know of enough (more than 2) people having anything like this issue. The more info you provide, though, like how someone moved the site etc, makes me think that you're inheriting someone's POS install. And that's hell to support.

1) Yes, when I click on my tickets on trac none are found... Maybe I'm blind..idk or care because I got my fix lol :)
2) You got a point, i'm not crediting him with the fix but it made me think of my own fix. A lot of SEOs love wordpress out-of-box optimization capabilities and always suggest pretty permalinks instead of numbers, that's just what all SEOs do, rather have keyword rich URLs than none. But yes that is also a performance issue, and the more I think about it the more his fix has nothing to do with mine.
3) I agree 100%. The issue was with the template I think pulling categories of posts for certain page templates. I'm like almost 100% sure of this and will post everything in detail and post back here with the information.
4) Thank you so much really for your attempt to help - more than I could of asked for or really expected. Again, I truly appreciate it.
