   I emailed Automattic a few days ago and asked if the use of the term WordPress in Adwords was allowed.

   And got a one word simple answer, 'No' :-) from Matt Mullenweg

   No. It's a trademark, and if you don't make an attempt to protect it you can lose it.

   Google won't allow advertisers to use it in Adwords, either.
