Odd comments arriving even with password protected comment system …!

    Hi everyone,

    Every now and then, one of my clients gets blog comments tha look similar to the following text. This doesn’t entirely look like spam. I also have the blog commenting system password protected. Can anyone please identify what this is and is it normal for users to receive such comments?

    […] While searching through the blogosphere we stumbled upon an interesting post today. etc. etc. etc. […]

    thats a trackback. have you read any of the documentation for what you have installed for a client?

    Haha. Yes, I have read a lot of it actually. Obviously not all, however I did know about trackbacks. Maybe I just didn’t know what to look for?

    You may want to follow the links as they may be getting hit by a blog scrapper who’s stealing your client’s content.
