   lots of plugins for that
   http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/statpress-seolution/
   is my favourite, it says its being discontinued, but it still works perfectly and was recently updated

   also you could look for other versions of statpress, or wordpress.com stats

   or get google analytics working on your site

   I found the code required in google analytics but can not find where to paste in my web site please help

   the instructions should be pretty explanatory

   Normally the code goes into footer.php, just above the </body> tag
