    Hello there. I am trying to set up a wordpress site that performs the function of a website with 4/5 pages that I can update as I please plus a blog. I have followed the instructions for setting a static homepage but now have the problem firstly of two "homepages" one called welcome that I have created and one called home which i am assuming is part of the theme template i have uploaded as I can't find it in the posts area or the pages. The second problem is that although I have published other pages they are not showing up - only the content I have created on the static homepage shows up on the live site.

    Please help - this is driving me crazy - was up until late last night trying to figure it out. I have no idea about coding but am keen to learn more.

    Also the wordpress site uses a domain hosted by 1&1 - could this have anything to do with the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    to set a static page, you should click 'Settings->Reading' and select one of these setups for 'Front page shows' -

    • 'Your latest posts' - Will automatically create a page called 'Home' that will display your posts;
    • 'A static page' - Gives you the option of making one of your own pages the home page (known as the 'Front page' in WordPress) and having a seperate posts page that you again create in 'Pages'. If you want a static page that contains your posts, then leave the 'Posts page' dropdown blank.

    As for the pages not showing up - have you changed something called the 'Permalinks?' If so, then set them back to default for the duration of development.

    Thanks so much for your reply - it really was driving me mad! In the end I uninstalled and reinstalled as I figured out that I had fiddled about with the settings too much.
    All up and running now.
    Thanks for your time again!
