I have a members-based adult site that uses wordpress. I typically track my visitors through Google Analytics, but today, I went to my CPanel at my host and it shows that every day, my site is under siege and content is being accessed in huge volumes by people, bots, crawlers, whatever. It's basically a free-for-all, though my site is members managed and password protected - I also use ecommerce plugins that manage who can and can't view members content. My service provider at one time a few weeks ago commented that my site was "well protected" and commended me on my general setup, that it was secure.

Apparently, this all means nothing as hundreds of people seem to be accessing all my content on a minute by minute basis, all day, everyday.

    Anyone? Anything?

Having bots & crawlers visit your site is usually seen as a Good Thing (tm).

I'm new to this developing thing. To be clear, I'm not a developer - I became one out of necessity. I understand bots and google going through your site is a normal thing, but according to the feedback, it looks like large amounts of member-protected information is being downloaded. If that's "normal", I'll go back to my Captain Crunch and not worry about it. I was just startled that for a period of time google showed 6 visitors. For the same time, my CPanel showed a lot more, and looked like it was all protected content being downloaded. Gave me a start.

    If it's normal, that's fine.

Have you tried testing your security yourself? Can you access protected content when not logged in?
