Notify Contributor When Published Post is Demoted to Draft (9 posts)

Is there a plugin that will do this? I'm using the "Members" plugin and have my Contributors set to be able to edit drafts but not published posts, so if they need to edit their post, the process currently looks like this:

    1. Contributor contacts me with the title of the post they'd like to edit

    2. I locate the post and demote it from published to draft status, making it available to them for editing

    3. Contributor edits post and resubmits it as pending approval

    4. I check the edited post and approve/re-publish it.

Currently, the system I have set up DOES send them an email at step #4, but I'd also like an email automatically sent to the Contributor at step #2 (i.e. "your post is now available for editing"). Is there a plugin that can do this?

Bump. I'm also open to the idea of editing existing code, if anyone has any ideas on that! I'm using the WP Status Notifier plugin to receive an email myself (admin) when a contributor submits a draft for review/publishing, but maybe someone could help guide me through modifying Draft Notifier to send to the author when their post is set to "draft" status, rather than the admin?

Just to clarify, I'm wondering if it would be pretty simple (and if someone could help me, since I'm not proficient with writing PHP) to modify the Draft Notifier plugin to send it's emails in the opposite direction (to Contributor, rather than admin) any time something is marked with "draft" status.

I don't have the answer you are looking for here, but I am hunting for the same thing. If I find anything useful I will make sure to post here for you as well.

I tried that one and can't remember why, but it wouldn't do exactly what I needed. Thanks for the link anyway :)

I think I was using role manager plugin on one of my blogs to do just that. But can't seem to find it now. You might like to try capability manager looks similar. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/capsman/

    * Need your help to understand how you are managing paid membership to allow users to create a post. I read your post where you were looking for "I need something that will allow the public at large to view the entire blog, but charge members who'd like to post to it a recurring monthly fee (payable through Paypal)."
