I get this message when requesting lost password.
The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function...

I ask my hosting service for help and got this message.

In order to use mail() function the server requires that email sent from the server should be sent from a valid email address hosted on the server. On further investigation I could see that this WordPress installation is currently sending emails using "httpd@bsd15.infinology.net" as the from address.

You need to setup the WordPress email from address before this WordPress installation will be able to send out the emails.

You can refer this link and it might be helpful:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/set-email-from-address/installation/

I installed the plugin and set-email-from-address to jerry_dedeaux@unitedingodwetrust.info
    and got this message.

Send an email preview to jerry_dedeaux@unitedingodwetrust.info

An error occured while sending email. Please check your server configuration.

    WordPress address (URL)http://www.unitedingodwetrust.info/wordpress

    Site address (URL) http://www.unitedingodwetrust.info/wordpress

    E-mail address jerry_dedeaux@unitedingodwetrust.info

This address is used for admin purposes, like new user notification.

We have placed a sample script in the website's root directory named sm.php. This uses the same mail() function and is working perfectly. It clearly seems to be a content issue related to WordPress. You need to contact your developer.
    In need of help.
    Thanks
